Americans Sound Off About Social Security - For Our Grandchildren

In 2017, Social Security will begin taking in less money than they are obligated to pay out to retirees. When do you expect to retire? Do you believe that you will be prepared, given that Social Security can't afford to pay what it's promised?

I'm not eligible for SS until 2022 but I plan on retirement in 2019, if not a little sooner. Yes, I'll be prepared. I am basing my retirement calculations on my getting only 50% of SS due me.

My retirement date is February of 2018. I may retire from banking, but not working. Career # 2 begins. I have not planned on SS lasting, so my retirement is not based on receiving it. I may start taking it early just to get whatever is available, which will compound the problem. I guess my main concern will be long term healthcare. Will Medicare be around when I need it?

Gee, I was having a pretty good day until you brought all this stuff up.
